Little wild ones - assistant teacher

At Little Wild Ones, we believe the most powerful learning happens through everyday play.

Founded in 2024 by Alexandra and Vince Liang, Little Wild Ones began as a passion project to nurture their own kids’ development through a progressive, Reggio-inspired philosophy — one that treats both the classroom and the outdoors as a canvas for discovery, where nature becomes a playground and each child’s unique curiosities are the starting point for learning.

Today, we stand among the Bay Area’s few true Reggio schools, and we’re seeking a passionate, energetic individual to help us cultivate an environment where children can flourish.

Overview of the role

As an Assistant Teacher at Little Wild Ones, you’ll help create a joyful, curiosity-filled experience for our children. You will support the Lead Teacher in nurturing growth across social, emotional, cognitive and physical development—while encouraging independence, confidence and creativity. You’ll collaborate with children and colleagues, extending play into deeper discoveries, modeling empathy, and helping each child feel seen, heard, and valued.

You’d make a great teacher if you:

  • Enjoy spending time with infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children (1–5 years old)

  • Can jump in playfully (and don’t mind getting a little muddy!)

  • Model strong social and emotional skills for children

  • Bring imagination and creativity to child-centered play

  • Stay calm, grounded and flexible in a lively, fast-paced classroom environment

  • Communicate warmly and clearly with both children and parents

  • Thrive as part of a small, collaborative, entrepreneurially-minded team

Qualifications

  • Available for regular full-time or part-time schedule during school hours (8a-5p, M-F)

  • Commitment to engaging with students through clear, kind, responsive communication

  • Flexibility to contribute across many tasks in the school each day

  • CPR & First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive hourly pay

  • High-quality meals and snacks during work hours

  • Professional development opportunities with potential to grow into Lead Teacher, Director, or creative roles as the school expands
